Letterman Declines Jackson Offer
by Jerry
Riggs jr., JD
As seen in the picture below, Late Show host David
Letterman has just declined to pull Janet Jackson's
finger in a recently aired segment that was deleted
before broadcast due to the CBS 5 minute delay of
all pre-recorded shows.
Faced with a debacle that potentially create a
really big stink in the Ed Sullivan Theater, or at
worse, a wardrobe malfunction, Letterman Looked for
back-up from band leader, Paul Shafer, saying "Paul
help me out here and you pull Janet's finger."
Paul responded that "it would take a man with an
awful lot of 'chitspa' to pull anything on a
Jackson. Yeah baby, a real man."
To which Dave replied, "Yeah, you pull it, it might
fall off. You know, one day, it may be the Super
Bowl of Love, and I'd have Oprah here and Michael
Jackson, the king of pop, ladies and gentlemen, is
that 'pop' like in that 'Jesus juice,' right? Well
M.J., the king of 'Jesus juice', and he may ask me
to pull something and you see, Paul, you know what
that would be?"
"No Dave."__ Paul
"That would be a slippery slope, where first you
pull the thing, and then, well, next thing you know,
I'd end up being fired by CBS, Donald Trump and as
Michael Jackson's legal counsel. It just doesn't
get any uglier than that. I just became a father!
I can't afford to be out of a job."__ Dave
"Yeah Dave. Why don't we ask Janet to play 'Will
She Float,' instead."_ Paul
The scene never played out on national broadcast.
Michael Jackson released a statement about the
incident stating that: "I'm not a girl, not yet a
woman."
