Median Enhancement & Beautification
CLEARWATER, FLORIDA - The Median Enhancement & Beatification
program started out with wealth intentions. The idea was proposed by Bud Groves,
nursery owner and city councilman Bucky Wheats’ brother-in-law. "This is a great
plan for the city. It will make the city appear beautiful to passing motorist.
We won’t have ordinary medians anymore and it’s great for birds. The Flora will
hide the traffic. If accidents occur because of the lack of vision, so be it, at
least the emergency
vehicle siren noise will be reduced. It's a real win-win for the city” Bud
proposed to the council members earlier this year. Assured the benefits would be
spread fairly among the council members, the council voted in favor of the
program. Today medians resemble an oasis amidst an asphalt dessert inviting
wildlife to play in the middle of the street. Bucky Wheats envisions a day when
city construction crews replace the familiar Bob’s
Barricades with potted
plants from his brother-in-law’s nursery.
