building manager B. Harris Stevens says he has had enough of
Pale Male and Lola, the red tail hawk couple who were evicted from their 5th Ave Penthouse Suite earlier this week.
Although the eviction is completely legal, bird watchers showed their
disapproval by dumping pigeon poo on the buildings manager.
The red tail hawks have reared 25 chicks during the ten years the
hawks have resided at the 5th Ave. Penthouse. Iron spikes which held
the nest in place were also removed to keep the birds from
rebuilding the nest.
B. Harris Stevens, a bird watcher himself, admitted "It was all the
ooos and ahhhs from the constant crowd of birdwatchers that drove me
nuts and finally made me decide to remove the nest."
